Catering Services

Gorumando is available to design creative menus to fit any occasion for gatherings large and small. Our cooking philosophy is informed by the deep history of Japanese cuisine and, in particular, obanzai ryori, the traditional home cooking of Kyoto.

Obanzai uses fresh, local vegetables cooked and seasoned lightly to retain their natural flavors, supplemented with small portions of simply prepared meat and fish, rice, and pickles. Many of its hallmarks that were once done out of necessity—using seasonal ingredients, preserving foods through fermentation, and not wasting anything—we now recognize to be good for both ourselves and the environment.

In keeping with the tenets of obanzai, our first priority is wellness. That's why all of our food is seasonal, local, organic whenever possible, and 100% non-GMO.

Sample Dishes

Ichiju Sansai

Meaning “one soup, three dishes,” ichiju sansai is a traditional Japanese meal consisting of a bowl of soup, rice and pickles, one main course, and two side dishes. In keeping with Zen Buddhist principles, the meal reflects a balance of the five colors (white, black, red, yellow, and green), the five flavors (sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami), and the five ways (raw, steamed, simmered, fried, and grilled).

We offer individual ichiju sansai sets prepared from fresh, seasonal ingredients that we can customize to the tastes of you and your guests.

Bento Service

Monday through Friday we offer a lunch bento service with delivery in Los Angeles. The menu changes seasonally and always features a healthy, colorful, and balanced Japanese meal.
